• Bactobio raises £6M to search for new antimicrobials: The company's bioactivity-driven but target-agnostic approach lets nature do the work: the combination of synthetic biology, next-generation sequencing and machine learning enables access to a growing library of microbes and could lead to previously unimaginable compounds.
• Pixelgen Technologies launches to advance single-cell spatial proteomics: The company raised a $6 million seed round to commercialize Molecular Pixelation DNA visualization technology for cell surface proteins.

• Perfect Day acquires Sterling Biotech and receives first regulatory approval in India: The alt-dairy pioneer’s production capability will double with the addition of the state-of-the-art manufacturing assets – just in time as India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority approves the application for animal-free milk proteins.

Health news

• Foresite Labs appoints Ian Tong, MD and former Stanford School of Medicine Professor, as Chief Clinical Officer to improve access to equitable and effective healthcare delivery by building and scaling life sciences initiatives at the intersection of health and data science.
• This gulp of engineered bacteria is meant to treat disease: Scientists at Synlogic have engineered an E. coli Nissle strain to help treat phenylketonuria. The first clinical trial could open the doors for creating a new class of "living" medicines.
• AbCellera and Rallybio announce collaboration to develop antibody-based therapeutics for rare diseases. The partners will co-develop up to five rare disease therapeutic targets in a risk-sharing pact, starting with a metabolic disease program.
