News, trends, and stories from the synthetic biology industry

Hi ,

Join me live on Clubhouse this morning from 8am-9am Pacific where I'll be slow jamming the latest synthetic biology news joined by special guests Alexander Murer, CEO of Kilobaser, Mike Kamdar, CEO of Molecular Assemblies, Max Jamilly, CEO of Hoxton Farms, Konstantinos Alataris, CEO of Nēsos, and Keita Funakawa, Co-founder of Nanome.

  • Alexander Morer is in the current batch of Y Combinator's synthetic biology companies, and he is keen to share what he's been up to in the past few months.
  • Mike Kamdar is the CEO of the first enzymatic DNA synthesis company and will be talking about the latest technology about to sweep through the industry.
  • Max Jamilly is the CEO of Hoxton Farms, a company that has announced a £2.7 million seed round to cultivate animal fat and unlock a new kind of meat replacement that blends plant-based and cultivated ingredients.
  • Konstantinos Alataris is the CEO of Nēsos, a neurotech startup that has announced the publication of data from a pilot clinical study demonstrating the power of its e-mmunotherapy platform in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Non-invasive, wearable tech could usher in a new generation of personalized therapeutics.

  • Keita Funakawa is the Co-founder of Nanome, a company that raised $3 million to help scientists get up close with molecular structures in VR. Nanome is a really great excuse for you to go buy an Oculus! Congrats to Steve and the team (I’m also an advisor).

Unfortunately, you need an iPhone to join Clubhouse right now, but don't worry, the Android version is coming soon!

Good Genes Winter 2020-2021

Synthetic Biology Startup Acquires AI Platform To Disrupt The Drug Industry "[Our platform] is simultaneously a drug discovery and manufacturing platform that allows you to discover your drug and the cell line that can manufacture [it]," says AbSci CEO, Sean McClain. "We’re finally uniting drug discovery and manufacturing the first time."
