Hi ,
We hope this email finds you well and looking forward to a happy, healthy Thanksgiving holiday (here in the United States).
As we gather with family and friends in a spirit of gratitude, I encourage you as readers to consider the progress we are making in the synthetic biology industry… especially in the fight against climate change.
We at SynBioBeta took hope from the recent COP26 Summit. Now, we plan to take the lessons learned, roll up our sleeves, and get to work with our partners using biology to make the planet a better place.
Thank you for reading and all our best for the holiday weekend.
Larry

COP26: Now the Hard Work Begins… and SynBioBeta is Leading the Charge! |
|
We at SynBioBeta watched with excitement as almost 200 countries met in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this month for the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26). As leaders gathered to discuss taking urgent action to stop climate change and prevent global temperatures from rising above 1.5 degrees Celsius, even the casual observer could walk away encouraged by the growing awareness and global efforts to make meaningful changes.

Spotlight on: Stemloop |
|
We all need water to live. But what happens if that water isn’t safe to drink? How can we fix a problem if we don’t know it exists? Meet Stemloop, the biosensing company
democratizing access to real-time information about our environment. The company’s first product uses its cell-free platform to identify dangerous water contaminants like lead. Stemloop is leveraging nature’s already-perfected biochemical reactions to help governments and communities monitor their water with color-changing tests you can carry in your pocket. Learn more about Stemloop’s critical work and what projects they’re taking on next!

Spotlight on: BioMilq |
|
Female leadership in synthetic biology plays many critical roles in accelerating the bioeconomy. For BioMilq, it means solving challenges that primarily impact women. Human breast milk is
critical in the first six months of a baby’s life. But ensuring all babies have access to this vital combination of nutrients can be very difficult. So, the team at BioMilq is culturing human breast cells to do what they do best: produce milk! Learn more about how BioMilq’s founders are helping parents access breast milk for their children and empowering the female-lead future of biology!

Spotlight on: Zymo Research |
|
Understanding DNA and RNA, the molecular base codes of all life, is fundamental to building a better future with biology. But how do we extract these genetic instructions, also called nucleic acids, from the complex cellular machinery that surrounds them? Meet Zymo Research, a company transforming DNA and RNA purification. Using Zymo’s novel purification technologies and processes, researchers can rapidly and easily isolate ultra-pure nucleic acids that are suitable for the most demanding applications. Learn more about how Zymo Research is giving scientists back the time they need to discover solutions to our greatest challenges through biology!
