Hi ,

Hope your year is off to a great start!

SynBioBeta 2025 is setting the stage for the biotech revolution, where visionaries like Patrick Brown, founder of Impossible Foods, and Rick Doblin, the pioneering force behind MAPS, will explore the frontiers of science and policy. This week’s news spotlights a world in flux: breakthroughs in xenotransplantation edge us closer to solving organ shortages, AI reshapes cancer treatment, and a new technique to control disease spreading mosquitoes is uncovered. As we confront the challenges of sustainability and health, these stories remind us that the future is being written in the labs and minds shaping synthetic biology today.

Enjoy your week!

Meet the Latest Speakers!

We’re excited to welcome Patrick Brown as a new speaker at SynBioBeta 2025! Patrick is an emeritus professor of biochemistry at Stanford, and founder of Impossible Foods, serving as CEO for 11 years. His Stanford research spans genomics, cancer diagnostics, and molecular biology.

In 2002, he co-founded Public Library of Science (PLOS) to champion open-access publishing. Now, through the Impossible Foundation and his work at Stanford, he focuses on ecosystem restoration, plant-based protein research, and creating a sustainable global food system.

We are also excited to welcome Rick Doblin, founder of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He has spent his career exploring the medical and personal uses of psychedelics and marijuana, aiming to develop legal frameworks that support their therapeutic applications.

Holding a doctorate in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, his work is pivotal in pioneering the integration of these compounds into modern medicine. Join us for a compelling discussion on how psychedelics can revolutionize therapy and personal growth.
